To my delight, I’ve discovered that BBC Four are showing a season of films and documentaries about Japan. They describe it as a search for meaning of this extraordinary nation. Although I’ve missed a few of the shows already, the introduction of BBC iPlayer has meant that I’ve been able to catch up at my leisure. Being the Japanophile that I am, I’ve already watched a few of the documentaries and almost all of the films that are on offer during this season but I’m still excited about some of the shows that I haven’t.

One of which was ‘In Search of Wabi Sabi with Marcel Theroux’ a highly insightful documentary about the essence of wabi sabi and it’s intrinsic Japanese nature. His passion for this discovery reminded me of my very own fascination with the land of the rising sun.
