The Daily is an iPad-only digital newspaper, conceived and put together by Rupert Murdoch. With the dwindling consumption of physical newspapers, the iPad was seen as a beacon of hope. This is the first large-scale application of it’s nature and it’ll be interesting to watch it’s success (or lack thereof) with it’s exclusivity to Apple’s device. Video after the break!

The BBC reports that while I’ve been away in Sheffield, the crossing at Oxford Circus with Regents Street has been redeveloped with a very Japanese influence. It goes without saying that inspiration must have come from the famous Shibuya crossing in Tokyo.

It’s not something I’ve really put much thought to, but this seems like a really good idea, the bottle neck congestion of pedestrians can be infuriating when you’re in a rush, so if it can relieve some of that pressure that’d be pretty sweet.

This Saturday sees the celebration of 150 years of the relationship between Japan and the United Kingdom. To mark this occasion with style, Spitafields Market in the heart of London will be hosting a festival to promote Japanese culture.

What is Matsuri? Well, in simple terms it means Festival or Holiday and the Matsuri was historically sponsored by a shrine or temple as part of the practice of “Honouring Your Ancestors”.

The dude above is a famous Japanese actor, he was part of a really successful band (that I’d never heard of) and starred in a drama that I surprisingly enjoyed.

According to news reports, he was recently found naked and drunken in the middle of a park after a drinking spree with friends.

“What’s wrong with being naked?” the music and television superstar is said to have screamed as the arresting officers dodged his flailing fists and attempted to wrap him in a plastic tarpaulin.

Unfortunately for him since the incident many of his advertising partners have dropped him due to the national outcry. I for one am very sympathetic to his predicament, it’s not like we’ve not all been there at some point! Enjoying the company of friends on a night out, talking and laughing, ending up in a park in the buff, Right? Right!?
